I was stuck in the same situation as you when i first started writing in web platforms. Don’t worry, here is the path which i follow.
Simply state a clear questions. Word count matters. The more word count, the more specific the question appears and the more clearer it’s to answer.
Questions starting with WH or HOW implies more of direct and that the questioner don’t know and wish to know. Linking verb questions implies the questioner knows but only need more proof. Recent data shows that WH or HOW-questions receive more attention than Linking verb questions because people want a clean slate to pour their knowledge on not otherwise.
Check if the exact question have been asked and answered in google or other major search engines, if so, don’t ask. Skip the question because there’s no point asking already asked questions.
Tag the name of people who were expertise on the question you answer, and tag people who had more followers and viewers generally. Use @addusername to tag users’ name, and the platfom will suggest users with that name. To tag everyone, use @everyone. In some platform you simply invite users to question you asked.
With that in mind, here is a short list of questions NOT to ask in any platform, because they will probably get downvoted, or reported and collapsed:
Don’t ask questions with obvious “yes”, or “no” answers. Short answers often get collapsed.
Don’t ask a question whose answer can be found through a quick Google search, i.e., how did J.F.K. die; who is the author of “The Raven”.
Don’t ask “What is the best (something)” … over and over with different cities, fruits, dogs, et al.
Don’t ask multiple questions for words that rhyme, synonyms, or antonyms. Those can be found through a Google search.
Don’t ask questions you know NO ONE has an answer for, i.e., what fairies eat for breakfast; Jesus’ favorite color; how Santa met his wife.
Don’t ask things to/about yourself. Keep questions generalized. We don’t know you, or your background. i.e., why you are depressed; why your wife/husband left you; why you lost your job; why you are alive; or why your big toe hurts.
Don’t ask for sexy pictures of famous people in a question. If you really need them, they can be found on the Internet.
Don’t ask questions solely designed to harass a person, group, religion, or political party.
Don’t ask questions designed to anger, stir the pot, or foster arguments.
