Jameela ohunene And my reply to her question Why is the Quran so harsh with disbelievers? was:
I want you to know that there’s difference between unbeliever and disbeliever. Both terms were wrongly interchanged for the other. The Unbeliever is one who’s never encountered or believed. While Disbeliever is one who knew the truth and believed but later withdrawn from believing. It’s the Disbeliever whom Allah’s Quran is harshed on.
Why Allah harshed on Disbeliever?
Because a Disbeliever knew the truth, accepted it, but belied it due to worldly reasons which he/she concealed from public while demoralising the image of Islam. In turn, the disbeliever stands as a reason for people to turn back against (not accepting) Islam; people would say he (the Disbeliever) had known Islam better than we do, since he was once a member but he realized the falsehood there in and turned away.
