Abdulfattah Ogirima Yusuf Does this Quran verse say Christians, Muslims, and Jews are the same (Quran 2:62)?
“The believers, the Jews, the Christians, and the Sabaeans - all those who believe in God and the Last Day and do good deeds will be rewarded by their Lord; they shall have no fear, nor shall they grieve.” Quran 2:62
In the above verse, “believers” implied muslims who follow Muhammad (PBUH), Islam as religion; Jews who follow Moses, David and Solomon (Judaism); Christians, the followers of Jesus Christ (Christianity); Sabaeans, the followers of John the Baptist; all are of same monotheistic religion, and they worship same God almighty, Allah (Allohm). However, the differences were eras they were in. Moreover, a follower’s reward may varied from another follower regardless of eras depends on the dedication to submission in God’s will, and sincerity to establishing the act of worship instructed by God at their respective eras.
The problem is with Human, in general, humans are cynics. They often resist, find it difficult or even fought off change because they thought things suppose to be the same forever; but they aren’t cautious enough to realize era change. It’s expected that humans follow the trendy divine Messeger with divine message confirming preceded messengers. That’s God’s plan! Therefore, it’s expected there be sweet transition from Judaism to Sabaeans to Christianity and to Islam, which is the final divine monotheistic religion.
You may be wondering why the change in religion when all worship the same one God, Allah (Allohm)? Ans: Because as era change so do message that guide the people of the era. Much like a software version used in 2010 updated with a new version. What’s hard in there?
You may also curious to know the evidence that Islam was the continuation and last monotheistic religion? Ans: Because it’s prophecised by preceding monotheistic religions that the final monotheistic religion, Islam, will confirm it later (much like a software source code linked to another), and would be from an unlettered messenger from Arabia (a home to thousands idols), a prophecy that suppose to be mocked but was true.
This is the reason why, during the era of Islam, starting since Muhammad’s attainment of God’s messenger-hood, in middle of 5th century till the day of Judgment, any followers still resides with preceded religions or practices those of preceded religions after Islam, there of, will not be accepted in heaven unless upgraded to Islam.
