Abdulfattah Ogirima Yusuf Is the Quran hateful towards Jews and Christians?
Go to The Noble Quran and search for “Jew”. These are the results I got in the first 2 pages:
Jews and Christian singled out for condemnation - 2:113
Jews are liars because they claim Abraham as their ancestor - 2:140, 3:67
Jews accused of insulting Allah - 3:181
Jews accused of hindering others from following Allah - 4:160
Allah will judge the Jews, Christians, Sabians, Magi and polytheists - 22:17, 5:69 (Take note of these sura, I will comment on it later)
Jews condemned for disbelief in Allah and allegedly taking Muhammad’s words out of context - 4:46 (Take note of this as well)
Allah tells Muslims not to take Jews or Christians as friends - 5:51
Jews are accused of calling Ezra the son of God. Christians are guilty for calling Jesus the son of God - 9:30
Jews and Christians accused of lying and concealing the truth - 3:71
Do not take Jews and Christians to be your rules/protectors because they mock your religion - 5:57
It is an almost endless list of accusations. There’s more but I stop here because I’m tired of it.
Why is the Quran hateful towards Jews and Christians?
First of all, what sin has the Jew and Christian committed that makes them deserving of special condemnation? What sin did they commit that differentiates them from the unbelieving polytheists?
From the verses above, their sin is fundamentally no different from the polytheists. They did not believe in Muhammad’s message. It makes no sense to condemn or specifically mention Jews and Christians for the sin of unbelief because that is what ALL unbelievers are guilty of.
The problem is, inferring from the verses, they must have treated him in a derogatory way. Honestly, I would have done the same because his message contains schoolboy factual errors that any Jew or Christian would laugh at. Here are 2 examples I wrote about (there are several more):
Muhammad doesn’t know God’s name - Is Yahweh of Judaism, Allah of Islam and the Trinity God of Christianity the same God? How could God be one God in Judaism, one God in Islam and then be three God’s (trinity) in Christianity if God could never change?
Muhammad thinks Mary is in the Trinity - Why does the Quran say that the Christian Trinity represents the Father, the Mother (Mary) and the Son (Jesus) (Sura 5:73-75)?
Muhammad wrongly accuses the Jews of calling “Ezra the son of God” like how the Christians call Jesus the son of God (see 9:30) - No explanation needed just lol.
This is probably why Muhammad is hateful and preaches against Jews and Christians.
Also, the Quran contain redundancies:
As for those who believe and the Jews and the Sabians and the Christians and the Magians and those who ascribe partners to Allah, Allah will judge between them on the Day of Judgment. Surely Allah is witness to everything. - 22:17
Mentioning Jews, and Christians, etc are redundant.
Example:
“All murderers, thieves and those who break the law will be prosecuted by the authorities” Mentioning “murderers and thieves” is redundant.
The statement just needs to read “All who break the law will be prosecuted by the authorities”
Is the Quran from Allah?
Secondly, if the Quran is a message from God for all times and places, the message should reflect a universal dimension to it. However, the verses above really show that Muhammad is limited in his knowledge by time and geography. He failed to address 2 other world-views:
Pan-theistic religions which existed in the East (far from where he was)
Atheism which developed/flourished during the Renaissance period in Europe (far later than his time)
Muhammad only addresses Jews, Christians, polytheists, Sabians, magi; because these are the predominant religions and peoples in the middle east during his time. Isn’t this evidence that the Quran is not from an all-knowing God?
