Besides money, what else is the root of all evil?

I have come across many people, knowledgeable and ignorants, who misqouted the famous christian saying of ST. Paul, “For the love of money is the root of all evil…” as “Money is the root of all evil”, anyways let’s accept money is the root of all evil. Besides money, what else is the root of all evil?

Jameela ohunene I think beside money are many evils. Root of evil? Doesn’t exist. All negative emotions in practice are evil. Negative emotions such as pride, glutony, lust, envy, degradation, anger, vengeance, ego, Narcissism, deceit/manipulation, greed… among others when done practically to another human, it is evil.

On strange thing about human life is someone with negative emotions could stay with it without being punished for as long that person never put them in practice. And someone is evil for as long as the person keep practicing the evil emotions.

Jameela ohunene Money is not evil point blank. Bu in case of argument, if money is the root of all evil, then i think human who values and uses money depite the fact that money is evil is the root of all evil besides money. Without human who would ever thought about money let alone use it evil?

No insects nor animals ever use money and will never need. Even our closest primates, chimpanzees, never knew the values of money.

Jameela ohunene To my opinion, the root of all evil besides money is the destruction of future in any possible way. Today’s human are product of the past humans, and the future human will be the product of today’s human. The destruction of human race such as the non-stop deforestation, gas emmision to the atmosphere, creation of weapon of mass destruction, weaponised Artificial intelligence, dumping of satellites on the space to the extent where it blocks the sun rays, which source of life and of course, production of unhealthy foods despite the side effects and the indoctrination of self-destructive ideologies to kids of today…and many more will some day lead to the doom of human race which is root of all evil.

Money is linen paper, it’s not the root of all evil. Evil comes from inside humans. Without humans, only innocent animals lacking the ability conceptualize evil would walk the earth. Greed is truly what makes money seem like the root of all evil. Greed is a form/level of selfishness. Not the only type of selfishness, but rather one of many like “pride” for example.. Pride is an excessive view of one’s self without regard for others.

I think too much pride is the root of all evil because it makes people act selfish.

Being selfish feeds ideals like “entitlement to what is not yours without regard to others”! So, some form of selfishness is at the heart of almost all premeditated crimes (theft, fraud, larceny, rape, murder). Being selfish leads people to believing they deserve more than do, making them envious and lustful for the lives of other people, and instills ideals inside them that they shouldn’t have to work as hard as others did to earn the same-all these cognitions lead to gluttony, sloth and adultery. Being selfish also leads ones cognitions in directions that justify hurting innocent, unknowing, persons/animals for your own pleasure and needs..and that’s true evil.

Just as guns don’t shoot and kill people, humans shoot guns and kill people. Evil doesn’t come from money, money comes from humans… and evil comes from selfish people with self centered world views..not money
